If you’ve been looking to take a summer trip but want to keep the costs down, you’re not alone. While summer trips are tons of fun, they can quickly get too expensive if you don’t act carefully when you book and with where you go. However, if you’re flexible and open to chasing the best deals, you’ll often find you can save a lot of money by just changing a few things.
Summer Trips: Our Tips
When You Travel
A huge way to save some money is to make sure you keep an eye on when you’re traveling. For instance, the last week of August is one of the best for booking a summer trip, as the price will be lower than any other week. This is because kids are back in school and most families have already taken their summer trip. As such, you’re able to get a great deal on airfare and hotels.
If you’re traveling out of the country, try to go to a place with a favorable exchange rate. For instance, if you visit somewhere like Mexico or Costa Rica, you’ll find you can stretch your money a lot further due to the good exchange rate the dollar has to the local currencies. By getting a great exchange rate for your money, you can book hotels in the country and buy nice meals for a lot less than you would if you stayed in the US.
If you want to stay a little closer to home for your trip, another way you could keep the cost down is to simply avoid airfare altogether. Instead of traveling across the country, consider traveling a state over and just taking you car for the trip! If you live in a rather remote region of the country this might not be as easy, but if you live near great attraction, just drive to them!
