Do you love to read? Do you also love discussing your favorite books and authors with others? If you answered yes to both of these questions, it sounds like you should be part of a book club.
If you aren’t already part of a reading group, we’ve got some tips to help you find one.
1. Ask your friends and acquaintances.
The easiest way to find a book club is to know someone else who’s already in one. However, even if none of your friends participate in one, they might still know of one. It never hurts to ask around and see if anyone you know can point you in the right direction.
2. Check with your local community center.
It’s possible your local community and/or senior center(s) may have a reading group that meets regularly. Many YMCAs also have monthly book clubs as well that are open to their members.
3. Search online.
There are several places online where you can search for book clubs in your area. Meetup, for example, is a website dedicated to all sorts of different clubs and groups that meet in person. Though it’s not specific to book clubs, you may be able to find one through the site regardless.
Other places to check include sites like Goodreads, My Bookclub, and Reader’s Circle.
4. Talk to your librarian.
If there’s anyone who should be in the know about active book clubs, it’s a librarian. There’s a good chance they’ll have information on active readers groups.
Your local library may also have a bulletin board or website with information as well.
Additionally, try asking the folks at your local bookstore. They may very well be able to help you find a book club, too.
5. Read your local community guides.
If your town or city has a local activity guide or a community newsletter, it may have some leads. Some cities even publish monthly activity guides that may include information on book clubs.
We have no doubt if you try these tips, you’ll likely find multiple options.
